This picture was taken in Ireland at a pub called Hogan's. I had a mug with me from a family reunion earlier that year that said "HOGAN" along with the Hogan family crest on it. I promised my family that when I got to Ireland I would drink a Guiness from that mug in a pub somewhere. Just my luck that there was pub called Hogan's. So I bought a pint and put the whole glass in the mug.
I want to thank all of my cousins and aunts and uncles for helping me to raise money for the Arthritis foundation and for enabling me to go on the trip of my dreams as well.

This was 1991 in Seattle. The next summer we left to go on the road in a 1975 VW Bus.
I showed up at the front door of this building to tell Mitch I had bought a van.
(There is more about it on the Los Enchiladas page under
Sundance film festival.)
This picture was my taken on my 24th birthday, October 12th, 1991. It was supposed to be a joke.
I am blinking in my headshot.
Gee, How ironic.
...Unfortunatly, everyone thought either I was blind
or that it was just a really bad picture.
These pictures were taken in the summer of 1992 in front
of the condo owned by the Comedy Corner in West Palm Beach, Florida and their marquee in front of the club.
Mitch Hedberg and I were staying in the
condo that week while sharing the opening spot in front of Richard Jeni. We traded off nights.
Mitch would do a night and then I would do a night. It was one of only a handful of paid gigs that summer.
We spent the rest of the summer driving across the country doing shows at comedy clubs in the hopes to generate
future work. With the help of Jana Johnson, who would call ahead as our manager, we managed to pull it off.
We both arrived back in Seattle after 10 weeks, having driven through 33 states, with enough future work to
stay on the road permanently.

This is a picture from when I was on the road.
It reminds me of every hotel room I was ever in.
...Sometimes the ashtray was full
when I checked in.
I took this picture because this is often what I saw on the table next to me whenever I woke up. Sometimes I smoked
just to keep myself warm. I always had a tape recorder near me so that I could record jokes. Remembering a good joke
is a lot like catching a ghost. If I didn't record it right away then there was always the chance I never would.

I was in Texas doing some laundry. The washing machines there were...
... available.
